Tax News: Apple Wins $13B Irish Tax Dispute with the EU
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) won its tax court case over a record 13 billion-euro Irish tax bill in a monumental defeat to European Union Competition Commissioner.
While the EU General Court’s ruling can still be appealed, judges delivered a stinging attack on the European Commission for failing to show “to the requisite legal standard” that Ireland’s tax deal broke state-aid law by giving Apple an unfair advantage.
Apple shares rose 2 to $396 in pre-market trading.
