Dan Hayden has extensive experience in financial services-related litigation and family law matters. He is a zealous advocate who enjoys investigating the facts of a case, coming up with a strategy to achieve the client’s goals, and executing.
Before joining Fazzio Law Offices, Dan worked in the Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase, one of the nation’s top 2 mortgage lenders, as a Legal Specialist Officer in charge of Mortgage Litigation. In this in-house role, he supervised various plaintiff’s foreclosure firms throughout the county and oversaw a large docket of litigated cases involving contested standing, consumer fraud, title and lien defects, homeowners’ association and tax foreclosures, external fraud and compliance. In this role, Dan observed the full spectrum of lender abuses. He became familiar with the regulations and compliance initiatives that banks must abide by and has a good working knowledge of how banks should handle loss mitigation properly, with an eye to keeping homeowners in their homes.
Dan served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Maureen Sogluizzo, P.J.F.P in Jersey City, NJ in the Family Division of the New Jersey Superior Court in Jersey City, NJ, where he assisted with a variety of family law matters and successfully mediated hundreds of hotly contested cases to resolution. In this role, Dan was responsible for reviewing hundreds of motions and briefing the merits of these matters, including articulating each party’s positions and making recommendations for the judge. Dan has experience with custody, child support, alimony and parenting time issues. In his work on family law matters, many of which went beyond simple monetary disputes, Dan developed skills at boiling down complex and emotional disagreements to their core issues, identifying where the parties shared common ground, and expertly facilitating compromise of the disputed items.
Before law school, Dan worked at a consulting firm where he prepared reports on defects in mortgage-backed securities. Dan is knowledgeable and interested in the financial underpinnings of the foreclosure crisis and this behind-the-scenes perspective helps him to inform clients on why banks do what they do and how clients can best respond to reset the scales in the client’s favor.
Dan received his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers School of Law-Newark. He received his B.A. in History Cum Laude from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. While at Rutgers School of Law, Dan was the Managing Notes and Comments Editor of the “Rutgers Race and Law Review.” As a result, he holds himself to the highest standards on written work-product.
Dan has an interest in Hockey and roots for the NJ Devils. Dan is eclectic and has a wide range of interests, including cooking, guitar and travel. Dan most recently visited Mexico.
